Faith Formation

Becoming Catholic and Confirmation Preparation (RCIA)

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process that welcomes and forms prospective members in the faith of the Catholic Church, and it also provides the way for adult baptized Catholics to complete the Sacraments of Initiation (i.e., Eucharist and/or Confirmation). Its stages and rites culminate just before Easter with the celebration of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation in the Saint Francis Chapel.

At USF, the RCIA process begins in early September and continues until early May. Weekly meetings include community-building, catechesis, pastoral conversations, and prayer to help participants better understand and integrate Catholic beliefs and practices that concretely express the faith.
